Inside of my serger.

In decembre of last year I went to a serger workshop. Now I know that my serger and I never going to be best friends. Maybe I going to buy a new (read better) one.
But I learned a lot on this workshop.
On the workshop I made some pictures of the inside of my locker.

This Dutch song always really makes me very emotional. I makes me think about my daughter, when she was about 4  years and just learned how to bike without any help.
Kleine meid op je kinderfiets

The original of this song is from Ralph McTell and is called Bicycle.
Click here for the song in English
you have to wait a while, there is a long musical intro but I ya wait he start singing.

MaksiTaksi Knits for Charity

Plenty of time so I started knitting agian. For charity.
Ever heard of Innocent Drinks?
Look here on the Innocent site

The hats I make are not finished yet, I just started. But here is an example from the innocent site. You don't need much to make some hats. Just some wool, small needles, a sewing needle and a pair of scissors. So please give it a try.

Do ya also wanna knit for Innocent?
And then send the hats to:

My first sewing machine.

A Singer Chic.

I made some curtains on it and some other stuff but there was a 4 steps buttonhole maker on it. With no sewing experience and nobody who could teach me it was hard to work with this mechanic machine.
So I went to the store and bought my second, a Brother. It was a gift from my beloved DH. Now a days I have more free time than I really want to. Now I can sew clothes as much as I want, so I think I get a big wardrobe. ;)

ps: next week I have an intervieuw in Amsterdam, so wish me luck!

Beautiful yarn / Mooi garen

In a box on a kind of fleemarket my DH saw these yarns, I didn't notice them at all.

Op een soort overdekte vlooienmarkt lagen in een kartonnen doos deze garens. Mijn DH zag ze want ik had ze zeker over het hoofd gezien!

Dressform/ Paspop I found her two weeks ago.

On Ebay I found a dressform, secondhand. Because I also make and design clothes with the moulage technic I wanted to have a simple dressform. And finally I found her. I present you:..Dressform Jane. :)
You have seen her before because I showed the Bizzkids dress on her. Next time I'll make pictures how I work with the moulage technic.

Charity quilttop

In the last week of octobre 2009, I made this little quilttop. It's for toddlers of maybe kids a little bit older.
It will be my last charityquilt for a while. It's made from a Moda Jelly Roll. Jelly Rolls are such fun to work with.
This top is for the Dreamquilts of Dreamblankets foundation. They do really a very good job for very sick children and with this top I want to support them.

Gift Bag from Recycled Stuff Tutorial

A week before Christmas I visit a good friend. With Christmas in thought we spend almost all afternoon making giftbags. A mutual friend showed her how to make them.
It was so much fun to do that I want to share this with you.

You can use everything you want. felt, old wallpaper, newspapers, grocerybags, old plastic tableclothes and even fabrics.

If you are going to use felt or fabrics then it's better to sew instead of taping it. Even plastics can be sewed but I prefer taping.

Lets start.
Take a paper out of a newspaper and fold it in half. Or if you need little giftbags then cut it first.

Put tape on the open sides. Do not tape the top.

Fold the top over, (wich is the open end) and cut a handopening out.

And you finished your own made giftbag.

I also used the paper that wrapt around you paper for the copier.
Take paper or somethingh else.

For smaller ones cut it first.

Tape open sides, not the top.

Fold over.

Draw the opening and cut out.

Finished another gift bag.
Enjoy!

Lola-da-Lola Bag Tutorial

You need:
One charm pack (I used Neptune from Moda)
If you don't have a charmpack or you are just in your saving mode then use your scraps.
Fiberfill of a wooly fabric( I used a fabric from wool)
Lining (not so thin) I used a lining of jeansfabric
Handles ( I used jeans fabric)

Take your charmpack and cut a quarter of the fabrics in 4 squares. The other fabrics are for the strip round the squares. The best is to cut them into 3 strips and 1 strip you cut again in half. That is just enough for 1 square.

Then sew them together till you have 4 rows by 7 rows.
Like this:

Put fiberfill or wooly fabric underneith it and sew in the ditch like the way you want to.

Fold the fabric in half, now you can see I didn't use fiberfill. Sew the open sides together. Do not sew the top.

Push the corners flat, sew about 2 to 3 inches. After sewing cut the end of the corner, you don't need that anymore.

Then make the handles. Make them 30 inch long and about 4 inch wide.
I sew them simply together but sew them like you want to.

Take your lining and make it the same sizes as the outher bag. If you want you can ad an extra pocket of a magnet snap like I did. You can even ad a zipper.

Put the bag in the lining, take care that you have to good sides on each other. Place the handles en put them also inside.
Now you can sew. Make sure you leave a little gap to turn the bag inside out.
When you are finished stitchin , turn the bag trough the little gap you left.

Then stitch the top of the bag again at the outside. This way you stitch the gap and your bag is finished.

You can ad a gadget, like a stiched heart of star, even some embroideriework is nice a a baghanger.
Have fun with your self made Lola-da-Lola Bag.

Here you see I made also a bag organiser. The tutorial for this bag organiser is not finished but will be on this blog somewere this year.

Lots of sewing hugs!
